The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) stands as a pioneer in the field of cellular therapy, with its Cellular Therapy Program initiated in 1989. Esteemed for becoming the first community bone marrow transplant program accredited by the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) to partake in national clinical trials, CCK has consistently maintained its accreditation by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) since 1999, marking it as the 11th program in the nation to achieve this distinction. Furthermore, the National Marrow Donor Program has recognized CCK as a certified regional apheresis center.

Specializing in bone marrow and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation, CCK offers effective alternatives for treating a variety of cancers including lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma, along with certain anemias and immune system disorders. The process involves collecting stem cells through apheresis from either the patient (autologous), a sibling (allogeneic), or a matched unrelated donor from the National Bone Marrow Registry, followed by high-dose chemotherapy and/or radiation to treat the diseased bone marrow or solid tumor. The stem cells are then re-infused into the patient to re-establish healthy bone marrow and immune system.
