Maryland Backs Innovation in Regenerative Medicine
The Maryland Stem Cell Research Commission (MSCRC) has announced its second funding cycle for fiscal year 2026 (FY26). [1] This initiative invites researchers and companies to submit proposals that will accelerate stem cell research, its translation into therapies, and commercialization within Maryland. [1]
This funding is a key part of Maryland’s strategy to support high-growth industries. The state has identified life sciences and computational biology as primary sectors for investment. [1]
Wide Range of Funding Opportunities
Funding is available through the Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF). Seven distinct grant programs are open for applications, supporting a wide range of projects from initial discovery to manufacturing and clinical trials. [1]

Application Deadline and Details
All applications must be submitted by January 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. EST. [1] Researchers and organizations, both inside and outside of Maryland, are eligible to apply. However, all funded research activities must take place in Maryland. [1]
A History of Supporting Scientific Advancement
The MSCRF has a strong record of supporting stem cell research. In the first FY26 funding cycle, over $4.7 million was awarded to various companies and academic institutions in Maryland. [1] Since its beginning, the MSCRF has committed over $235 million to 716 projects, significantly advancing stem cell technologies and treatments. [1]
Focus on Collaboration and New Technologies
The MSCRF encourages the use of innovative tools, such as artificial intelligence and computational biology, in research proposals. [1] There is also a focus on non-animal, stem cell-based models. [1]
To further accelerate progress, enhanced funding is available for partnerships between different sectors. These collaborations can bring together companies, universities, hospitals, and non-profit organizations to combine their expertise and resources. [1]
How to Apply
For detailed information on program guidelines, eligibility, and how to submit a proposal, please visit the official MSCRF website at www.mscrf.org. [1] For any questions, you can contact the MSCRF team at mscrfinfo@tedcomd.com. [1]
