Genetically Engineered Stem Cells Fight Gastroesophageal Cancer

Help Spread The Word, Share Post:

Dr. Saar Gill of the University of Pennsylvania received a $450,000 grant from the DeGregorio Family Foundation to continue research on genetically engineered stem cells to combat gastroesophageal cancer.

This builds upon previous work using Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) macrophages to target and destroy cancer cells within solid tumors.

The ultimate goal is to develop a long-lasting supply of cancer-fighting cells.

The DeGregorio Family Foundation, established after a family member succumbed to stomach cancer, is dedicated to funding innovative research in gastric and esophageal cancers.

This grant represents a significant step towards improving treatments for these cancers.
